Interview with Danielle about Hinduism


Raised Catholic, and considering herself spiritual for many years, Danielle decided to convert to Hinduism at age 16. The name Gauri Maheshwari was given to Danielle by one of the priests at the temple upon her decision to be a Hindu. At the time of this interview she is 18 years old. 

Hinduism is a way of life for Danielle. In fact, it is the very essence of life and gives her purpose in all she does. It makes her a kinder, gentler person because she realizes that God is in everyone and so she must treat people the way she would treat God. Danielle worships in her puja room at home and at the Hindu Temple in St. Louis.

Bhutanese Home Minister and Speaker sentenced


Breaking news:  The Mongar district court this morning sentenced National Assembly Speaker Jigme Tshultim to  two and a half years in prison for official misconduct in the Gyalpoizhing  land allotment  case. He was found guilty of illegally allotting plots to 23 individuals including his maid during his tenure as the Mongar Dzongda and chairman of the plot allotment committee in 2001-02. The verdict said the plot allotted to his maid must be given back to the government. There will be separate hearings for the others who were illegally allotted plots.
The Mongar court also sentenced the Home Minister Minjur Dorji to a year in prison for official misconduct in allotting plots to two dratshangs and  the wife of a Kurichhu project engineer during his tenure as the Mongar Dzongda in 2005-06 and as chairman of the plot allotment committee. The verdict said the plots must be returned to the government.

Buddhiman,The villager who has a dream to fly his own helicpoter

Buddhiman is optimistic that his dream would come true one day

Showing his Maruti 800 cc engine installed with a iron steel and three pointed blades, 48-year-old villager Buddhiman said he dreams to make his own helicopter one day.
In a corner of Pejorling village in Sipsoo, Samtse, Buddhiman works everyday to make his own helicopter, which he said would fly some day.
“This was my dream since 1999 but people didn’t believe me,” he said. “Now that I’ve assembled bits and pieces, people have started giving my dream a second look.”
He switches on the machine, the engine for which is connected to an empty five liter vegetable plastic bottle filled with petrol. As the engine roars to life, he pulls a handle made of metal covered with polythene pipe that helps his small blade fan on top move and the other to control the energy......

Sanischare Camp under fire again!


Fire which started at around 9 pm in Sanischare camp burned numerous huts there.

In order to bring the fire under control,at least quite a few dozen of huts were destroyed,reports Armed Police Force in the camp.The fire was first started from the hut registered under Purna Bahadur Subba from Sector L-1,Hut.No 44. Luckily it was brought under control with in an hour.
No major casualty reported so far.

His Majesty returns Home


His Majesty the King and the Queen returns home today after completing  their five-day visit to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
During their visit from February 14th to 19th, Their Majesties visited the Dharmarajika Bauddha Vihara, a Buddhist monastery in Dhaka and laid the foundation stone for the Atisha statue and pagoda to be built at the monastery.
Their Majesties offered prayers at the monastery and were offered the most sacred ash relic of the 10th century Buddhist teacher, Atisha Dipankara Srijnana also known as Jowo Je Palden Atisha.
Their Majesties also met with Sheikh Hasina who hosted a dinner at her residence in Gonobhaban.
His Majesty also met the opposition leader and the chairperson of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Begum Khaleda Zia, foreign minister Dr Dipu Moni and Bhutanese students studying in Bangladesh.
